I’m interested in our changing perceptions of objects over time. As new experiences and events eclipse old, the significance of some ‘stuff’ can grow, diminish or change, as our emotional response to it shifts. ‘Welsh Dresser Revisited’ responds to some of the same memorabilia included in ‘All about the Dresser’, 2004. Here however, through the appropriation of muslin, stitch and hoover dust, the objects appear mummified. The nostalgic past reflected in the body of work in 2004 has been replaced with something distant and irretrievable.
